Subtle Yoga workshops in London
Cost: £75 each
Unlike many, my Yoga journey began with subtle meditative practices and I discovered asana many years later. For me, yoga has always been a process that starts with the mind and works its way outwards through the energy body and into the physical body. Though I enjoy and appreciate asana practice, subtle work still remains the jewel of my practice. The experience that I look for in Yoga is best served by working with chakras, meridians, marma points and the subtle essences of prana, tejas and ojas that go on to form the physical body. We will also explore one of the pillars of classical yoga and ayurveda which is the proper maintenance of agni, or metabolic power. The physical agni is best served by diet, lifestyle and appropriate asana practice. The agni of the pranic body is kindled by more subtle tantric practices like pranayama and kriya yoga.
In these workshops, I will approach asana practice from this classical perspective. We will consider the modes of practice from a classical and ayurvedic perspective which are one and the same. We will then practise some simple tantric meditations that bring the pranic body to life and give you a glimpse of yoga’s potential from the point of view of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
Each training day will run from 10.00-17.00 and will be a blend of classical yoga philosophy from the era of Kashmiri Shaivism and Hatha Yoga and a variety of asana and subtle practices. They can also be used to gain CPD points.
Entry criteria: You need to have practised yoga for least three years to appreciate these workshops.
